The core loop
IMDb is a reference work. Letterboxd is for film nerds. Netflix only recommends its own. CourtWord puts what you’ve seen, what you thought, what your friends think and what you’ll watch together in one place.

Rating 1–100
The number is the hero. It always shows as a figure, never just a colour, and it fuels everything else in the app.
The score row
Your own score is always filled. It’s a fact. Everything else is an outline. Match wears gold.
Where you sit versus the world
Clans
A clan is a closed group with its own queue, its own taste and its own rituals: your friends, your family, your flat or your film club. The whole watch-together flow is free.

Build your clan’s badge
The clan name always sits outside the badge. Free: 3 clans of 30 members. Director’s Cut: unlimited, 100 members.
Avatars
Nobody uploads a picture of themselves. Everyone picks one of fifty illustrated moviegoers, so a profile never gives away what a child looks like.

Director’s Cut
The more you rate, the sharper it gets. The number is always set by our own engine, never guessed.
Safety
Your kid can use CourtWord. A stranger can’t find them. That isn’t a setting you have to remember to switch on. It’s how the app is built.
Things you’ll never find in CourtWord
Tap a comment to post it as a 14-year-old with the standard settings. This is how the moderation in the app handles it, before anyone else sees it.
Nothing posted yet. Pick a comment above.
Low risk posts straight away. Medium waits for a human. High is stopped with an explanation. You can report and block on every comment, profile, clan and list, and you always hear back.
It all starts with a date of birth. No age, no account. Under 13, it becomes a child profile under a parent, for free. Parents can adjust the content level for each child.
You can download all your data and delete your account whenever you like.
Rituals
You rate. The app remembers. And it comes back to you right when it fits: on Sunday night, after movie night, and in December.
Your year in film and series, as a story you can share. What you watched most, what you loved, and who you agreed with most.
@saraEvery Sunday you get your week summed up, and an excuse to argue with your friends a little.
Ten duels a day between titles you’ve seen. Tap your favourite.

The controller of your personal data is:
We have assessed that the service does not trigger a statutory requirement for a Data Protection Officer. Responsibility for privacy rests with Kristian Braathen, reachable at info@abbovakt.no. We carry out a DPIA before launch because we process children’s data at scale.
We never ask for special categories of personal data (health, religion, politics, sexual orientation). Please do not put such details in notes or comments.
We never sell personal data. We use processors who may only process data on our instructions, under a data processing agreement:
We also disclose data where the law requires it, in particular where child sexual abuse material is found, which is reported to Kripos in Norway and to NCMEC for United States users.
We choose EU regions for storage where the provider offers them. Some providers still process data in the United States. Those transfers rest on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, combined with encryption in transit and at rest. You can ask us for a copy of the transfer safeguards.
Your match score is computed automatically by our own recommendation engine from your ratings. It is a recommendation, not a decision with legal effect for you.
Moderation of text happens automatically before publishing, and can result in content being held or rejected. Everything flagged, and any rejection you appeal, is reviewed by a human. You always get a reason and a route to appeal. See section 7 of the Terms.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent. The main ones are built into the app under Settings → Privacy:
We respond within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no), or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, internal access is limited to those who need it, and age filtering and access rules are enforced on the server, never only in the app. In the event of a personal data breach we notify Datatilsynet within 72 hours, and you directly if the breach poses a high risk to you.
If we change this policy we give notice in the app at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Previous versions are available on request.

If you download CourtWord from the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies in addition to the terms below. In the event of a conflict, Apple’s terms prevail for matters concerning the App Store licence itself. You can read them here: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
These terms are an agreement between you and Abbovakt AS, company number 937 674 708, covering use of the CourtWord app and courtword.com. By creating an account you accept them. If you are below the age of majority, a parent or guardian must accept them on your behalf. The terms apply together with the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines.
CourtWord is a social app for logging and rating films and series 1–100, following other people, and watching something together in a clan. We do not stream films and do not sell access to films. Film data comes from TMDB, streaming availability from JustWatch and trailers from YouTube, and can be incomplete or out of date. We may change, add or remove features, but we will not remove material paid features during an ongoing subscription period without offering you a reasonable alternative.
The following is not permitted. Breaches lead to content removal, restriction or closure of the account, and in serious cases a report to the police.
New accounts are restricted for their first seven days, and there are rate limits on how much you can post in a period, to stop spam.
You own the content you create: ratings, notes, lists, comments and clan posts. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that content within the service, to the extent needed to operate it, and to generate share cards from what you yourself choose to share. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies we must keep by law or in moderation logs.
Private notes are private: we never show them to other users, and use them for nothing other than providing the service to you.
The whole social core is free. Director’s Cut and Ensemble are optional subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play, which renew automatically until you cancel.
All text is checked automatically before publishing. Content can be published, held for human review, or rejected with a reason. You can report any comment, profile, clan or list, and you can block other users.
Response time: within 24 hours for ordinary reports and within 1 hour for child safety. The reporter is always told the outcome.
Right of appeal under the EU Digital Services Act: if you disagree that content was removed or your account restricted, you can appeal to info@abbovakt.no within six months. The appeal is handled by a human who did not make the original decision, and you receive a reasoned reply. You may also refer the matter to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or to the courts.
The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that film data, age ratings or streaming availability from third parties is always correct, or that the service is uninterrupted. We are not responsible for content other users publish.
We are liable for direct loss caused by our negligence, but not for indirect loss. For paid subscriptions our liability is limited to what you have paid in the last twelve months. Nothing in these terms limits your non-waivable consumer rights, or our liability for intent, gross negligence or personal injury.
You can delete your account at any time in the app. We may restrict or close an account for breach of these terms, and without prior warning for serious breaches. If we close your account we tell you why, and you can appeal under section 7.
We notify material changes to these terms at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept the changes, you can terminate.
Norwegian law applies. If you are a consumer you can always bring a case in the court where you live, and you keep the protection of the law of your own country. Consumers in Norway can complain to the Norwegian Consumer Authority, Forbrukertilsynet, and onward to the Consumer Disputes Committee. Otherwise Oslo District Court is the agreed venue.
Streaming data by JustWatch. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Trailers are shown via YouTube, and YouTube’s terms apply to playback. Trademarks belong to their respective owners.

courtword.com is a simple information site. We use no tracking or marketing cookies, and we do not share your visit with advertising networks. The first time you visit we ask whether you accept anonymous statistics. If you answer “necessary only”, we store nothing beyond your language choice and the answer itself. You can change your choice at the bottom of this page at any time.
The language choice is strictly necessary to give you the page in the language you asked for, and therefore needs no consent. You remove it by clearing your browser data.
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and its script library (React) from unpkg.com. Those providers see your IP address in order to deliver the files, but no cookie is set and it is not used for profiling. If you watch a trailer in the app, YouTube’s own cookies and terms apply to that playback.
The mobile app does not use cookies. It stores a login session on the device, and uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics with an app identifier to measure use and find bugs. We never use advertising identifiers, and we never profile minors. How that data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
If we later introduce marketing cookies, we will ask for fresh consent first, and this page will be updated before any such cookie is set.
